My half of an art trade I'm doing with KatieeBella ; she gave me 5 characters that she liked (Starfire, Raven, Catwoman, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn) and I gave her 5 characters that I liked (Zelda, Link, Ghirahim, Fi ad Impa; all from Skyward Sword)
Now, this has been a long time coming because I've been doing my A-level art coursework, which is successfully killing me. Luckily, I handed it in on Monday while we do the exam, so I had 2 days of free time to draw what I wanted! Along with some designs in my sketchbook, I decided to knock one thing off my to-do list - namely, the art trade! I'm afraid I won't be able to upload anything else for a little while because the Art Exam is intense working for a month straight, so I must work hard!
I'm trying a new look with Harley because I like her cowl, but I don't like how it hides her hair so much; but her design seems....off with the blonde bunches :S So I decided to try her in the retro outfit with a big puffy blonde fringe ^_^ I quite like it! I like all the characters really....bar one. *WARNING: RANT* I love her as an actress, but I loathe how boring Anne Hathaway's Catwoman looks! She from the age of DC films where, in an attempt to make it 'darker, edgier, grittier and more realistic', every character (with a few exceptions) traded in their costumes for the world's most dull, black leather suits! I get that Scarlet Johanson's Black Widow also took this turn; but when I zoomed in on her outfit to draw it, there was a lot of detail in the panels of the jacket; Catwoman is literally a zip and a belt! And don't even get me started on the stiletto heels; I don't care how athletic you are, heels are difficult to walk in; let alone run along buildings and backflip in the damned things! Maybe it's just because I'm drawn to the wonderfully creative and imaginative characters designs, I don't know; but 'black leather does not a darker character make!', and when everyone else is doing it, black leather costumes are starting to look a bit cliché....
....that being said, I do like Catwoman's headband/ears and hair *wanted to draw the massive yellow goggles on*
